GRADUATION CEREMONY HELD AT DPS PATIALA
Delhi Public School Patiala acknowledged its Pre- primary students by organising a Graduation Ceremony at Harpal Tiwana Auditorium for Performing Arts on 7 March 2020.
The tiny tots now step forward from Pre-Primary to class 1. It is their first step towards formal education. Little toddlers were very excited to receive their degrees clad in their black gowns and smart caps. The parents of the students were present to witness the ceremony when their little darlings wore the graduation gowns and caps, and held their scrolls firmly in their hands.The function was presided over by Dr. Mamta Sharma who is aProfessor (Psychology) in Punjabi University.The programme started on an auspicious note by the traditional lightning of lamp by the Chief Guest Dr. Mamta Sharma, Principal Mr. S. N. Shukla and Academic Coordinator Ms. Shveta Goyal.The kindergarten and class 1 students exhibited their talents by presenting beautiful dances with messages on issues like say ‘No’ to plastic, scarcity of water, follow traffic rules, a child-parent relationship, ghoomer etc.to name a few. Students of class 2 anchored the entire event in a very lively and enjoyable way following the concept of Vikram and Betal.The Chief Guest congratulated the students and their parents on the occasion and appreciated the efforts of the school. The Principal also addressed the parents and updated them about the school activities and thanked the parents for bestowing their trust on the school.The exemplary performance and confidence shown by the students is worth mentioning and highly commendable.
Road and Child Safety Workshop Held
With the orders of the DC Patiala, SSP Patiala, Insp. Ranjit Singh, Sub Insp. Pal Singh, Social Worker and Traffic Marshall Kaka Ram Verma along with Counsellor Puneet Singla from Distt.Child Protection Department visited DPS Patiala for an awareness programme on safety of children. The interactive session was focussed for drivers and nannies as a part of the program for the selected schools including DPS Patiala. The employees were made aware of use of first-aid kits, road safety and use of fire extinguishers. Emergency phone numbers like fire brigade, ambulance, police station , children and women safety lines were also shared. Also, the safety measures to be taken on the possible fire accident were discussed. Principal DPS Patiala expressed grief on the unfortunate accident at Longowal and appreciated the initiative by Govt.on the much needed awareness to avoid future mishaps of this nature.
RTA Patiala, Sh. Arvind ji visited the campus of Delhi Public School Patiala and Inspected all the vehicles. The Transport facility given by the school was also appreciated by the authority.

Inter-Class States of India Contest "The Seven Sisters"
Going with the patriotic spirit of the 71st Republic Day, an Inter-Class States of India Contest "The Seven Sisters" was organised on the 24th of January 2020. The classes involved were VI, VII and VIII. Each of the class was responsible for displaying and depicting the cultural, economic, geographical, political and historical aspects of the state assigned. It was indeed a feast to watch the children share the researched information with the judges, along with display charts and PowerPoint presentations. every class also gave a live performance of the popular dance forms. To top it all, popular food preparations and delicacies were also offered. Principal Mr.Santosh Shukla visited all the classes and appreciated the efforts made by the students in researching and learning the facts of the states.

Republic Day Celebrations
Delhi Public School Patiala celebrated India's 71st Republic Day in the school premises with full enthusiasm and joy. The students took pride in glorifying and celebrating the spirit of unity. To mark the importance of this day, a special assembly was presented by the students of Beas House. The school echoed with patriotic fervour as students from class 1 to class 12 were a part of the celebration.Capt. Sukhjit Kaur Sanewal, the first lady officer from Patiala district, graced the occasion with her presence as the chief guest. The Principal Mr. Santosh Shukla, the academic co-ordinator Ms. Shveta Goyal and the first lady Mrs. Shukla also made the celebration special with their presence.The assembly started with offering floral tributes to the martyrs followed with a silence of one minute as a mark of respect to the brave soldiers. The Indian National Flag was hoisted with a feeling of pride.Students of class 4, 5 and 6 shared information about the various bravery awards given on this day. A parade with 3 contingents representing IAF, Navy and Indian Army marched to the beats of the drum. A guest bagpiper band comprising of 20 students of Modern Sen. Sec. School were also a part of the parade. A selection of students from the band presented a drum beat performance - a perfect example of symphony and class. The other tableaus from 6 states namely Kashmir, Assam, Gujarat, Tamil Nadu, Maharashtra and West Bengal presented dances from the states. The melodious music and graceful movements of the dancers left the audience spellbound.Earlier in the day, all sections of classes VI-VIII presented a research-based presentation of the 7 Sister States comprising of cultural, political, geographic and economic details of the state assigned.The facts about our constitution were shared. This was followed by a medley of patriotic songs. Samar presented a poem penned down by Ms. Harmeet Juneja.The last performance of the assembly was a play which brought forward the practical aspect of republic. It was actually a satire which highlighted that we, the present generation, are just interested in exercising our rights but are not willing to fulfil our duties. The students enjoyed presenting the assembly.The Chief Guest in her address highlighted the significance of the day, and made the children aware that the future of their country lies in their hands. Hence they need to study well now and inculcate good values in life, which will help them to be good citizens of the country.Certificates for Inter-Class Competitions held during this week were also given. All the competitions were in line with Republic Day.It was a memorable day with cherished memories that would last for a lifetime.

DPS Patiala participates in the CBSE Regional Level Science Exhibition 2019.
The CBSE Regional Level Science Exhibition was organised at the Greenland Public School Ludhiana from 22nd November to 23rd November 2019.
The theme given for the event was "Sustainable Agriculture Practices" and the title of the model prepared by the student team-I of DPS Patiala was "Nurturing the Annapurna". The participants from DPS Patiala were - Mst. Divjot Singh Sodhi (Class X) and Mst. Gotam Arora (Class X)
The second team comprising of Meharishwar Singh and Pranav Bansal, both from Class X presented a project " Brain ‘ O’ Fun" - an educational game created using Python Coding. A total of 123 displays were set-up by the participating schools of the Punjab and Chandigarh Region.
The Second Edition of “RAZZMATAZZ” organized
Delhi Public School Patiala organized its second annual gala play night “Razzmatazz”. The theatrical venture by the students of DPS Patiala was a much awaited one and excited parents made a beeline towards the venue towards the Harpal Tiwana Centre of Performing Arts, Patiala, on the 21st of November, 2019. The show was a unique exhibition of the marvelous histrionic skills of the senior students of the school, from classes VIII to XII. The function was presided over by Dr. Indira Bali, Head-Department of Dance, Punjabi University, Patiala .The show started with the lighting of the lamp ceremony by the Chief Guest along with other dignitaries, followed by a lively musical performance by the school Orchestra. This was followed by four back to back delightful play presentations by the diligent actors and performers of the school. Each play displayed a perfect synchronization of the acting prowess and accurate setting that caught the fancy of the audience. The timeless Shakespearean tragedy ‘Hamlet' was the first to be staged followed by 'Mahanayak' – a Hindi Epic, a mesmerizing French play 'La Belle et La Bete'( The Beauty and the Beast) and a touching performance of 'Kahani Roti Di' a Punjabi play highlighting the issue of Brain Drain and tendency of migrating to foreign lands in search of a better life by the youth of Punjab. All the performances left the audience spellbound and glued to their seats as the students enacted with the maturity of a skillful theatre artist. The Chief Guest appreciated the impressive effort by the school to hone the performing skills of students at a tender age. On this occasion the CBSE Board Toppers of class X and XII were honoured for their achievements at the award ceremony. Principal Mr. Santosh Shukla thanked all the guests and appreciated the efforts of the students in his address.
Delhi Public School Patiala in Mega Heritage Fest
70 CBSE schools affiliated with Patiala Sahodaya School Complex depicted culture, heritage of India on the occasion of Mega Heritage Fest on 24th November 2019. The event was organised at the Budha Dal Sports Complex.
As every other school, Team DPS Patiala also put up its attractive stall and shared information about the state of West Bengal. 26 chirpy students spoke about the culture, and heritage of the state with a lot of research work backing them. They also were enthusiastically sharing their knowledge of the social and political structure of the state. The stall was decked-up with colorful hand-made posters and charts depicting the various informational aspects of the state.Students were dressed up in the traditional attires of the state and also offered delicacies prepared for the occasion. The beautiful handicrafts and souvenirs from the state were a treat to the eyes.
Principal Mr. Santosh Shukla appreciated the efforts of the students and told them to make the best of the learning opportunities that school life offered them.
Kindergarten celebrates Pink Day
Pink day was celebrated by the Pre-Primary section of Delhi Public School Patiala on 23rd November 2019 to introduce the little buds with the shades of pink.Dressed in shiny pinks and an adorable shoes, the Barbie Dolls of DPS added colour and charm to the occasion.The young students looked charismatic in their pink attires radiating love,beauty and kindness. The classrooms were embellished with shades of pink using flash cards,props,boxes and many more.The bulletin boards and corridors were beautifully decorated,an array of pink objects providing the students opportunities to have a clear sense of the colour and it's importance.Children were given a thorough understanding about pink colour through many fun- filled activities.The little ones of KG I made pink balloons with a cut and paste activity, while the senior KG children were engaged in a Tulip-making paper-craft activy. The HRTs helped the little ones to display their creativity.The activities helped in exercising their gross motor skills, recognising colour cues through touch & feel.The children play games on this theme,making that day more interesting and memorable.
Minnie & Mickey enjoy their birthdays in Kindergarten Cartoon party!!
The Kindergarten section had a gala time celebrating the birthday of their favourite cartoon characters - Mickey & Minnie on the 19th of November. A cartoon party was organised for the little ones where a beautiful and lively setup was made with a display of cartoon characters like Doraemon, "Chota Bheem", Little "Chutki", Pooh and Spiderman, all lined up to welcome Mickey and Minnie. The HRTs made this occasion special for their students by giving them a thrilling surprise. The children were awestruck as Minnie and Mickey entered the assembly hall dancing, hand-in-hand. The celebration was made all the more colourful with all the children dressed-up as their favourite cartoon characters. Mickey and Minnie also cut a beautiful cake along with Principal Mr.Santosh Shukla & the Academic Coordinator Ms.Shveta Goel, much to the delight of the tiny-tots.
Yoga is the art of awareness on the canvas of body, mind and soul
Yoga in daily life is a system of practice to refresh physical, mental, social and spiritual health. When the body is physically healthy, the mind is clear, focused and stress is under control. To put this into practice, a special assembly by class IV Vishnugupta was organized to teach the core asanas of yoga. Through a special performance, Bhujangasana - the cobra pose, Ustrasana, the camel pose, Gomukhasana, Vrikshasana or the tree pose, Dhanurasana or the bow pose, were demonstrated. An inspiring poem added the magic of positivity to the atmosphere. Students came up with motivational thoughts to initiate the practice of yoga in the daily routine.
The Principal, Mr.Santosh Shukla appreciated the efforts of the students of class IV in spreading positive vibes and assured that the daily yoga practice would charge up the students with energy and focus required for excelling in all their endeavours.
Assembly on "World Television Day
Students of class I inventors presented an assembly on 20th November 2019. The theme of the assembly was "World Television Day". Students shared information about the significance of the day. Also, the boons and banes of television were shared including the information of the channels that are beneficial to watch and learn. Everyone was also told about the harms of watching too much TV like effects the imagination skills as well as health hazards. The assembly culminated with a poem recitation on the world of television.
Class III visits Central State Library
On 16th November students of all the sections of Class III went to visit the Central State Library of Patiala. Children were shown the different sections of the library, understanding the significance of each of them. Ms. Kulbir Kaur, the head librarian explained the students how they can be the member if the library and hence inculcate the habit of reading. She showed the different type of books available for kids like talking books, pop-up books, feel and touch books. Overall, the visit was helpful in promoting the reading habits amongst the students.
National Education Day observed (5th of November 2019)
Special Assembly marks Diwali
Students of Class I presented a special assembly on the occasion of "Diwali". All the four sections participated in this special assembly, contributing to the colourful occasion. The traditional significance of the festival was depicted with a musical choreography. Children exhibited confidence and clarity as they shared the ways of celebrating a safe Diwali along with keeping the aspect of "Green Eco Friedly" celebrations in mind. Adding the taste of festivity, a colourful Adding more festivity to the assembly, a lively group dance was presented by the cheerful students. A festive song wishing everyone joy and happiness was also rendered on the occasion. The special assembly culminated with a short quiz for all the classes. Principal Mr.Santosh Shukla appreciated the efforts of the children and applauded their presentation skills. He also conveyed his festive wishes to the entire DPS Family.
Fun Games for Class III
Students of class III enjoyed fun games on 16th of November 2019. In all, 112 students of class III participated in the fun games. They played games like 'in and out', 'frog ' race , "shoe the chair" to name a few, and enjoyed them thoroughly.
Special Assembly on Children's Day
A special assembly by Class III Innovators was presented on the eve of Children's Day. Students shared the importance and significance of this day. On this occasion, the children also pledged to help the underprivileged children of the society to rise above their circumstances and shine in their lives. A dance performance was also enjoyed by everyone.
PTC Junior Smart Kids Auditions
PTC Junior Smart Kids auditions were held in DPS Patiala. Many upcoming Divas were shortlisted for the second round (City Finale) which was held on 20th November 2019 at Ishmeet Singh Music Institute, Ludhiana. Our Kids enthusiastically participated in the event under different categories i.e. singing, dancing and acting. At the end of the event certificates and gifts were distributed to all the participants. I was really a wonderful exposure for our kids.

Delhi public school Patiala Got third position in quiz competition held by Edu Khalsa welfare at Harpal tiwana patiala.58 students of school participated in it.Quiz team winners Charu of 10th and prabhsimran of 6th were honoured with wrist watches and trophy and rest of the participants got medals and certificates.
Students enjoy a magnificent Children's Day
The Management, Staff and Faculty of Delhi Public School Patiala organised a grand show on the occasion of the Children's Day on November 14th. The day started with all the classes enjoying a cake-cutting session, with all the students getting a share of the delicious cake. This was followed by special cultural assemblies at the 3 levels- Pre-primary, Primary (Classes I-III) and classes IV-XII. The assembly zones were decorated with colourful props lending a cheerful ambience all over the campus. Teachers pampered the students with several cultural dance forms, choreographies and rib-tickling enactments. Each performance drew a lot of appreciation and applause from the super excited students, who were in awe to watch their beloved teachers performing. This was followed by the "Bal Mela" with the non-HRTs pitching in to offer lip-smacking and sumptuous snacks in the colourful counters set up. Children savoured everything on offer - from candy-floss to Pasta to "Bhel Puri to Chocolate Shakes and fruit punches. Popular Indian tangy snacks like "Gol Gappas", "Bhel-Puri" and "Stuffed Kulchas" were equally in demand. The Ice-cream vendor and the Balloon vendor were busier than ever. The pre-primary children enjoyed an exclusive party in the AV Hall, and were excited as they got colourful balloons as takeaways.
The day ended with a grand dance party in the play-ground where the students thoroughly enjoyed shaking their feet to the popular dance numbers.
Mr. Santosh Shukla conveyed his wishes to the students and asked the children to enjoy every bit of their childhood, remaining on the right path at all times. He also appreciated the teachers for putting up a colourful show in spite of having a very hectic schedule.
Kindergarten's visit to Gurudwara Moti bagh
We at DPS Patiala believe that every religion must be respected and accepted.To mark the occasion of Guru Nanak Dev ji's "Gurupurab', the Kindergarten students of DPS Patiala visited the Moti bagh Gurudwara. With their heads covered, students knelt down in prayers.It was a wonderful experience as they sat down and listened to the melodious "Kirtan".The children were told about the teachings of Guru Nanak Dev ji.The "Karah-Prashad" distributed at the end of the visit was relished by the little ones.
Guru Nanak Jayanti Celebrated
Delhi Public School Patiala had 'solemnity' reigning in its campus on 9th Nov,2019. Continuing it's celebration of the 550th birth anniversary of Guru Nanak Dev Ji, the students of class 5 held a special assembly that began with all the students and staff chanting the 'mool mantra'. The life history of the Guru along with his revered teachings and related verses were elaborated and sung by the students. The stage, that was set up with floral garlands,wooden cutouts, posters and charts reverbrated with positivity .The students of the dramatics club and the literary club also contributed by enacting a skit, presenting a choreography along with a speech about Guru Nanak and the relevance of his teachings in today's modern times .The various activities being held all over the globe to mark this occasion were also highlighted. The assembly culminated with the 'ardaas' and 'parshaad'. The principal, Mr.Santosh Shukla, addressed the students and encouraged them to understand the importance of brotherhood and become messengers of world peace.
English story telling Activity
Undoubtedly, it is the stories that give wings to our imagination and take us to places beyond the boundaries of our physical world into the land of fairies, dragons and wishing trees.Since time immemorial,story- telling has been an integral part of our culture.To keep the tradition going and to inculcate the love for reading in children, an English Story-telling activity was held on October 18, 2019.Childern narrated stories like Thirsty Crow,Lion and the Mouse,Akbar & Birbal,The boy and the Apple Tree and many more.To captivate the audience's attention and make the narration interesting,the narrotors donned the avatars of the characters and used aids like puppets and masks.The participants made effective use of facial expressions, gestures and voice modulation to give a memorable experience.
Ravana Mask making
On the occasion of Dussehra, a "Ravana" mask-making activity was held in Kindergarten to encourage creativity in children.Kids came up with amazing art work.The wing wore a festive look by the enthusiastic participation by all the students.
Chickpeas Salad Day
A "Salad & Sprouts activity" was organised for the students of KG I & KG Il.The students excitedly wore their aprons and chef caps for this exciting activity with a great enthusiasm.They learnt that this salad with simple ingredients is an excellent source of low fat protein & fibres.Kids showed great interest in mixing the finely chopped cucumber, onions and tomatoes into the sprouted chick peas.Students then sprinkled the mixture with lime juice,"chaat masala" and fresh green coriander before their teachers gave it a toss.All the students relished their self-assembled sumptuous chickpea salad!!
Visit to Super-mart
Kindergarten kids went on a field trip to Super-Mart .On their visit to supermarket children were made to identify the types of foods displayed there. They also enjoyed the different sections of the Super market like Fresh fruits, Vegetables ,Grains and Pulses section, toiletries, bakery and canned goods.The teachers helped them gain an understanding on how things are bought,billed and paid for. It was a fun learning experience for each child.

Visit to campus of the Verka Milk plant
Students of Kindergarten wing went for a picnic to the green environs of the Verka Milk Plant for an outdoor learning trip.Teachers shared their views on the importance of drinking milk and choosing milk products over the more tempting junk food.Little ones also enjoyed the rides and play activities with their HRTs.The day was a fun-filled one for the excited kids.
Blue day celebration
"Kiddies paint their mood in shades of blue"Kindergarten section of DPS Patiala celebrated the colour "Blue" in the school campus.The significance of blue colour was reiterated through a series of activities. Excitement and enthusiasm was visible everywhere.All the children came dressed up in different shades and hues of blue.An array of blue colored objects like umbrellas,balls,clouds, flowers were on display helping the students have a clear sense of the colour and it's importance.The little ones of KG I made a blue drop painting using finger print technique. A beautiful variety of fish were also crafted with paper plates. On the other hand, senior KG children got engaged in cotton dabbing,free- hand drawing work and colouring activities.It was indeed a visual treat to see the wonderful vibes of the blue colour on our little ones.
Obeisance at Gurudwara Sahib
As a part of the celebrations of the oncoming 550th birth anniversary of Guru Nanak Dev Ji, 170 students of classes 4 and 5 of Delhi Public School Patiala visited the Motibagh Gurudwara Sahib on 2nd Nov.2019.They offered prayers in the main hall and joined the congregation in the 'kirtan' and 'path'.The Head Granthi briefed them about the history of the Gurudwara and explained about the ongoing celebrations of the Prakash Purab of Guru Nanak Dev Ji. Later ,they visited the sarovar and partook 'prasad ' and 'langar'.This visit is an initiative by the school to sensitize the students about the religious fervour building up in their city and will definitely go a long way towards inculcating brotherhood and tolerance amongst the future citizens .
Aandotsav 2019, the 7th Annual Day of Delhi Public School Patiala was held with zeal and jubilation at the Harpal Tiwana Centre of Performing Arts Patiala on Thursday,24th and 25th of October. Honorable Sh. Kumar Amit (IAS),DC Patiala and Mr.Varun Sharma(IPS) SP City,Patiala presided over the function as the Chief Guest. The function commenced with the lighting of the traditional lamp followed by a series of exhilarating performances based on the theme of Unity in Diversity and human love above all biases of caste, colour, creed and religion. Students showcased their talents through dance performances and acts. All the performances were intricately woven in a story of an alien lost on the rich land of India where he finds people of all religion living together. The audience was truly enthralled by the performance and confident stage presence of the young ones. The young achievers were honored and appreciated with accolades in the prize distribution ceremony. Principal Mr. Santosh Shukla presented the Annual Report and appraised all of the various achievements and activities of the school in the fields of academics, co-curricular and sports, establishing it as a premiere educational institution in the region. The show was a huge success and was admired by all.
An event named ‘Little Achievers” was held at Delhi Public School Patiala on 12 October 2019. Tiny tots from well known preparatory schools like Bachpan, Little Pumpkins and Gad’s participated in a Show ‘n Tell and a Colouring Competition. The little ones participated with full enthusiasm, confidence and zeal. . Such competitions also lead to giving the children exposure and help in increasing their confidence level.
Mr. S. N. Shukla, Principal of DPS Patiala gave certificates and prizes to the participants and thanked the visiting schools for participating in the event and giving the students the right kind of platform for success.
Debut MUN of DPS Patiala
The debut Model United Nations Conference of Delhi Public School Patiala was organized by the school on the 12th and 13th of October 2019. The 2-day event saw 101 delegates from the various schools in the city, and from as far as Bathinda, Rajpura, Nabha and Mandi Gobindgarh. The opening ceremony included a key-note address by Principal Mr.Santosh Shukla, who welcomed the delegates and the escorting teachers to the event. The students then segregated into the 4 committees – United Nations General Assembly(SOCHUM III), United Nations Security Council, All India Political Parties Meet and International Press, for their day-long debating sessions. The day-one culminated with a happening and vibrant social evening at the pool-side.Students were welcomed back to the campus on 13th October 2019 for the proceedings of day two. The debating sessions were interesting and clearly reflected the amount of research put in for the same.All students enjoyed the coffee and lunch breaks and appreciated the arrangements made by the school.
Day 2 culminated with the distribution of awards in the closing ceremony. The executive board members were also presented with souvenirs of the event. In the International Press Committee headed by Sanyam Jain and Vatsal Dwivedi - the Best Journalist Award was bagged by Mst.Sidharth(DAV School Patiala) , Best Photographer Award by Mst.Kunal Arora (DAV School Patiala) and the Best Caricaturist Award was bagged by Ms.Navkiran Kaur (DPS Patiala).
In the AIPPM Committee headed by Sahinoor Singh Sidhu, the Verbal Mention awards were bagged by – Mst.Abhay(Nitin Gadkari), Ms.Nimarjot Kaur(Mamta Banerjee), Ms.Rishima (Mayawati) and Kashish Singla (Uma Bharti). Apoorva (Manish Sisodia) and Arpita(A.K.Anthony) were the winners in the Special Mention Award category.
Harshpreet Kaur(Narendra Modi) and Uday Pratap Singh (Asad-ud-Din Owaisi) were awarded with medals and certificates for the High Commendation Awards they received. The Best Delegate Award of the AIPPM Committee was received by Suchreet Kaur of DPS Patiala (Sonia Gandhi).
The Heritage Club visits Phulkari Centre
Heritage Club students visited a cooperative society at Rajpura that helped the Phulkari artisans earn a living. Students were shown different products of Phulkari - both handmade and machine-made. Students enjoyed the hands-on sessions on different embroideries. Various products like mobile-pouches, file-folders, cushion covers and dupattas were exhibited. In addition to learning the nuances of this traditional embroidery , students also understood the working of a cooperative society.
Field Visit by Young Mathematical Enthusiasts
Mathematics Club students -both Junior and Senior Club members visited the Mathematical Park located at the Govt.Sen.Sec. School-Rajpura Town. Students learnt several applications of concepts like volume, surface area and many mire, that were represented in 3-dimensional models. All concepts right from class IV to class X displayed through interesting and intriguing representations including nets of 3 represent at Students were amazed to see colourful walls depicting number system, abacus and multiplication tables. Games related to time, fractions and circles were thoroughly enjoyed by the excited students.
The visit was fruitful with ample gain of knowledge by the entire group.
Blood Donor Day observed
The Health and Wellness Club students visited the blood bank and collection centre at Government Rajindra Hospital. With Blood Donor Day related activities in process, students also visited the Thalassemia Ward and met the Thalassemic children to understand the vitality of blood donation. Students understood the criteria that the prospective donors had to meet before being able to donate blood. Doctors also gave the students guidance to maintain a healthy haemoglobin status. Students also understood the stages of blood collection and subsequent storage of blood in the blood bank. A video "The journey of blood from vein to vein" helped the students understand the procedures involved in the blood bank in a better way.
Delhi Public School Patiala organised a Cycle Rally
Delhi Public School Patiala organised a Cycle Rally on the 30th of September 2019, to spread the dire need to conserve water - a fast depleting resource of our environment. The rally saw active participation from students hailing from classes IV to XI. The rally was flagged off from the main gates of NIS at 6:00 am by the Guest of Honour - S.Karnail Singh, SHO, In-Charge Traffic and PCR, the school Principal Mr.Santosh Shukla and the coordinator Ms.Shveta Goyal. The students were segregated into 3 age groups. The traffic police, Patiala and a medical team from Columbia Asia provided all support to the school for this noble venture. The winners in each category were - Class IV-V - Boys - Pranav, Viraj and Akshit and Girls - Dhariti, Khanak, Guntas; Class VI-VIII - Boys - Gurmastak, Samar and Yuvraj and Girls - Tanvi, Saizneek, Prem Mohinder; Class IX-XI - Boys - Gurjeet, Rohan and Divjot; All the winners were awarded achiever medals by S.Karnail Singh. Mr.Santosh Shukla congratulated the winners and all the participants for their support in the endeavour. He also encouraged them to be a Water Hero by using water wisely.
All the participants were provided with refreshments before dispersal.
Grandparents' Day Celebration.
The pillars of DPS Family, the grandparents were welcomed on the occasion of Grandparents' Day Celebration.
After the traditional welcome, the enthusiastic guests were taken to the AV Hall of the newly constructed KG Block. The chirpy children of KG2 presented the welcome dance.Thereafter, the grandparents enjoyed a series of games and cultural items with a spirited participation.
Principal Mr.Santosh Shukla thanked the senior guests and also shared his thoughts on the valuable role of the grandparents in holding the families together.
The beautiful event culminated with a dance party on the bollywood hits of yesteryears.
A Retro Themed Teachers Day
The teachers at DPS Patiala had a memorable Teachers' Day 2019. The heavy downpour did not dampen the spirits of both teachers and students. The venue of the cultural show was the AV Hall in the newly constructed KG Block. The teachers were given a scintillating welcome by students as they walked on the Red Carpet leading to the venue. Teachers were dressed up making style statements from 70s,80s,90s in sync with the retro theme. The dance performances of the children on the bollywood numbers from yesteryears were an instant hit.
The ceremonial cake was cut by the Principal Mr.Santosh Shukla along with the school Head Boy Ishaan Sharma and Head Girl Mehardeep. This was followed by greeting & song dedication of each teacher, one of the most enjoyable activity of the day. Principal Mr.Shukla thanked the school council and organising team for putting up a fantastic show. Later, the staff and teachers enjoyed a dance party sumptuous lunch at 'The Shaurya'.
The Exclusive Kindergarten Block Inaugurated
The 3rd functional block of Delhi Public School Patiala was formally inaugurated today, the 7th of September 2019. The Chief Guest for the occasion was Mr.K.K.Sharma, Chairman, PRTC. He was given a traditional welcome and escorted to the new block. After cutting the ribbon, he was escorted to the AV Hall.
The cultural program began with the traditional lamp lighting ceremony, followed by a spirited welcome song by the school choir. The dance recital “Ganesh Vandana” spread the aura of positivity and auspiciousness around the campus. Principal Mr.Santosh Shukla delivered the formal welcome address and expressed his gratitude to the eminent guest for his presence. Mr.K.K.Sharma, in his address, appreciated the illustrious Delhi Public School Society and shared his happiness on the growth of DPS Patiala, stating that the school had created an exclusive niche for itself in the field of holistic education in the region.
He was elated to see the enormous campus, housing excellent facilities for students. He assured the school of support in all the future endeavours. Mr. K.K.Sharma also planted a green sapling in the campus and encouraged the children to be precautious about the depleting natural resources. The guest was taken on a campus tour by the Principal Mr. Santosh Shukla and the Academic Coordinator, Ms.Shveta Goyal. This new block houses a whole new set of activity rooms, a larger infirmary, an audio-visual room and of course a newly furnished kindergarten wing.
Fit India Movement by Hon'ble Prime Minister
Janamashtmi was celebrated with pomp and fervor at Delhi Public School Patiala. The special assembly that was organized in the school campus by class IX Ecatapulted everyone around into the festive mood. Students presented "Krishna Bhajans" and also shared the significance of the festival. A musical choreography depicted the entire childhood of Lord Krishna culminating in a fascinating "Raas Leela". This was followed by Krishna Arti and distribution of Prashad. The entire limelight was however stolen by the "Dahi Handi" tradition with the chants of "Hathi Ghoda Paalki..Jai Kanhaiya Laal Ki" reverberating in the air.

Social Science and Science Departments hold exhibition
The departmental exhibitions of the Science and SST department were held on the 17th of August 2019, coinciding with the PTM.The Science exhibition witnessed the participation of a number of impressive models and displays, creatively made by students. A group of 55 student volunteers were more than excited to explain and share their know-how on scientific concepts. The various static and working models that were showcased were appreciated the parents, who thronged the senior science labs in large numbers.Out of total of 46 models/projects presented, 26 of them were working. Students garnered appreciation and motivation both from parents as well as teachers for their creative and innovative display. Many parents found experiential learning truly enriching.The agenda of the exhibition was to harness the scientific aptitude in students and develop in them an attitude of research mindedness, thereby promoting the qualities of analytical and critical thinking.In the Social Science Exhibition, students from class IV-XII participated whole-heartedly, with a spirited approach in preparing and later explaining about the models. Subject-specific 3-D models were prepared i.e History, Civics, Economics and Political Science. In addition to these beautiful artefacts originating from different states of India were also made and presented. Some student volunteers also wonderfully managed the games and puzzles counter on interesting topics like the Preamble, Tectonic Plates etc. and involved the enthusiastic parents in the activities. Students also prepared data cards depicting all key characteristics of the states of India. Beautiful charts on display depicted the different revolutions, battles and sea routes.Parents appreciated the entire set-up and also applauded the efforts of the students for their research and information sharing skills.
DPS Family welcomes Mr.Binay Kumar Jha, Chief Commissioner, Income Tax, Ludhiana
On the 14th of August 2019, the staff and the students of DPS Patiala were truly elated to welcome Mr.Binay Kumar Jha, the Chief Commissioner of Income Tax, Ludhiana. He was received by the Principal Mr.Santosh Shukla and given a traditional welcome by the student members of the Jagriti Club.The Jagriti Club was initiated with the guidance of the Income Tax Department, Patiala.Mr.Jha formally inaugurated the vertical garden project that was installed in the school premises by the Income Tax Department under the Mission Jagriti Program. He was taken around the school campus and appreciated the environmental endeavours of the school. He interacted with the students and also encouraged them to be involved in nation-building initiatives in their own small ways. He also discussed the “Mission Jagriti Pay Tax & Build your India" venture of the department. Mr.Jha also appreciated the 100% participation of the school involving each student, right from Kindergarten-I to Class XII, in the card-making activity for sending wishes and thoughts across to our brave soldiers.Mr Jha was assured of all support and participation, as an institution, for all the future social endeavours of the Income Tax department by the Principal Mr.Santosh Shukla. He was presented a letter of support for the same. As a mark of his visit, the visiting dignitary also planted 2 green saplings in the school premises, helped by the student volunteers of the school.
Social Welfare Club hosts Special Guests !
The Social Welfare Club of DPS Patiala, organised a special day for the underprivileged children adopted by the NGO 'Har Hath Kalam' for the cause of providing education to them.These children who live in the slums, smiled brighter through this effort.They were all formally welcomed at the school reception and then taken for a round around the campus,had their refreshment by the pool- side, their eyes shined deeper while getting tattooed in the school's Art Department. They danced their hearts out on their favourite beats accompanied by the students of DPS Patiala.Principal Mr. Santosh Shukla interacted with all of them and asked them about their aspirations. He also motivated them to go on with their studies for a starry tomorrow and thanked the NGO volunteers for working for this noble cause.Kids were given books and stationary shared by the students of the school. The visiting students felt like being on cloud nine and thanked everyone for the wonderful time spent together at DPS Patiala.

On August 19, 20 and 21st , a speech competition was conducted in school for grade 1- 3 students. The students spoke on the basic moral values of punctuality, discipline, truth and honesty. The students spoke about self discipline, respect for elders, politeness etc. The diction of the students was commendable. Students of all the sections participated with zeal. They were judged on the basis of confidence, fluency and content. The contest was one of the steps to inculcate the basic moral values in our little ones.Over all the activity was a great success and a good learning experience for every one.
U-17 Cricket Team wins at Zonal Level of Punjab School Games
The U-17 Cricket Team of the school won the first match against the Scholar Field Public School, Patiala. The team played well and comfortably won by 8 wickets. This was the first event at the Zonal Level.

Mst.Sukhmanvir Singh Gill of class IX won a Silver in the 50 Metre Back Stroke event at the District Tandrust Punjab Competition.
DPS Patiala Team Wins laurels at DPSB MUN
ight students of DPS Patiala represented the school at the Model United Nations Conference that was organised by DPS Bathinda from the 8th of August to the 10th of August 2019. They actively participated in the debates through the 3-day event. Mst.Meet Kamal of class X was declared the "Best Delegate" (UNGA) , while Mst. Keshav Goel of Class X bagged the Honourable Mention Award in the UNHRC Committee.
The students were appreciated by the Principal Mr.Santosh Shukla. The entire team was felicitated In the special assembly on 14th August 2019.
-THE TANGY & SPICY EXPERIENCE
DPS Kindergarten Section enjoyed a kitchenette activity "The Tangy & Spicy Bhelpuri Party" on the 9th August 2019. The children learnt "bhelpuri" making from the puffed rice combined with a variety of raw salad ingredients like potatoes, onions, peanuts, coriander, sev and some sauces.Children had a lot of fun together with their teachers. They not only enjoyed making, but also eating the yummy tangy snack with their friends. Children learnt the names of ingredients used and cooking terms enhancing their culinary vocabulary as well.
The aim of this activity was to develop healthy eating habits and the little chefs promised to make the same dish with their moms at home too !
Kindergarten Friendship Day Celebration!!
Kindergarten kids enjoyed a Summer Party to beat the sun-scorched summer day. The HRTs of the KG classes taught the kids to prepare the tangy drink using the popular tang concentrate.The excited kids added ice and water into their glasses.The activity was meant to give the students a hands-on experience.
Students were encouraged to make the summer drink for their parents and grandparents too.The party food and an animated movie added to the party mood of the tiny-tots.
Kindergarten Friendship Day Celebration!!
" There is something about childhood friends that you can't replace!"Young DPSites of DPS Patiala celebrated the joy of friendship with great zeal and excitement. Children came decked-up in the colour of friendship -yellow.They were told about the importance of the day and had activities related to the occasion.They made greeting cards and friendship bands for their friends and were super excited to give it to their friends. The day concluded with the students hugging their friends, sharing chocolates and dancing on their favourite tunes.They went home not only wearing their friendship bands but also with lovely smiles on their faces.

The monsoon festival of "Teej" was celebrated at DPS Patiala with a colourful special assembly. The students shared the significance of all the rituals related to this festival. Little girls of class 5 presented a foot-tapping "Giddha". Later, the students and teachers dressed up in their traditional attires enjoyed the festive swings under the trees.
Patiala Team bags an award at Zonal Inter DPS Dance Fest.
The Classical Dance Team of DPS Patiala participated in the Inter DPS Dance Festival (North Zone-1) that was held at DPS Chandigarh on the 2nd of August 2019. The team comprising of 9 girls were prepared for a Kathak presentation based on the real life achiever Arunima Sinha as the theme given was “Shushakti”.In all 18 teams from north zone (1) participated in the mega event and vied for the top positions. The first 4 teams selected for the Nationals were DPS Chandigarh, DPS Mohali, DPS Patiala and then DPS Jammu. It was a moment of pride when DPS Patiala bagged the 2nd runner-up trophy.Principal Mr.Santosh Shukla congratulated the team and appreciated the efforts of the teachers and students for the spectacular performance. He also motivated them to work harder to achieve a marked recognition at the upcoming National Level. A special performance for the school students was staged in the assembly on the 3rd of August 2019.
Spread the Bread - Cookery Contest Organised !
The cookery club of Delhi Public School Patiala held a cookery competition-"Spread the bread" for the students of classes 6-8, to display their culinary skills. The chefs-in - making worked wonders and presented a wide variety of dishes. Each delicacy was adjudged on the basis of taste, flavour, presentation, novelty/innovation and nutritional value. The enthusiasts exhibited their creativity and skills giving the judges a tough time. The Principal Mr.Santosh Shukla and the Academic Coordinator Ms.Shveta Goyal lauded and encouraged the efforts of the budding chefs.
139th Birth Anniversary of Munshi Premchand celebrated
The Department of Hindi celebrated the 139th Birth Anniversary of Dhanpat Rai Shrivastavabetter known by his pen name Munshi Premchand was an Indian writer famous for his modern Hindi-Urdu literature. An inter-house Hindi Play competition was organized based on 4 selected works from his works that include more than a dozen novels, around 250 short stories, several essays and translations of a number of foreign literary works into Hindi. Students of classes IX-X were more than enthusiastic on presenting their plays based on the stories – “Mantra”, “Budhi Kaaki”, “Jhaanki” and “Jyoti”. Each house put in all their efforts to make their presentation as realistic as possible with innovative props that recreated the ambience required by the script. This initiative was to promote the interest of the students towards the great works of this popular literary figure.
Principal Mr.Santosh Shukla lauded the efforts of the students and teachers in preparing the performances.

Adzapp Time at Kindergarten
An Adzapp activity was organized by DPS Patiala for the students of Kindergarten section.The idea behind conducting this activity was to provide a platform for the participants to explore their creativity and stage presence skills.The products that the little actors advertised ranged from - Fashion, Toiletries,Clean India,Food and of course the omnipresent Mobile phones. It was a perfect blend of creativity, laughter and precision when the participants took to the stage to present their advertisement. The expressions and delivery captured the attention of each one present. Amazing eye- catching and beautiful props were used by each participant. The teachers and the young audience had a memorable time indeed.
Special Assembly marks Kargil Vijay Diwas (25th July 2019)
The students of Class IV Chanakya presented a special assembly on the eve of Kargil Vijay Diwas. Other than sharing the details of the Kargil War, the students paid rich tributes to the brave hearts who laid down their lives safeguarding our freedom and motherland. An emotional choreography was also presented, depicting the scenes when the soldiers left their families to go to the frontiers of the country.
Principal Mr.Santosh Shukla related the entire sequence of the war, giving the students an insight into the challenges and hardships that the Indian Army went through, before snatching back the rightful control of the Indian territory under attack. He appreciated the efforts of the class in presenting a wonderful assembly.
Monsoon Special Assembly (20th July 2019)
Class IV Kautalya presented a beautiful assembly on the monsoon season. The students shared the joys of the season along with the health hazards of the season as well. A lot of information regarding the different diseases and infections that were prominent during this season, along with the preventive measures that could be taken for safety.
The school doctor Dr.Rishma Kohli also addressed the assembly , giving tips and measures to tackle health issues. Principal Mr.Santosh Shulka appreciated the efforts of the class in creating awareness among their fellow students and teachers.
Kindergarten Cleanliness Drive on Green Day!
In accordance with 'Swachh Bharat' Mission launched by our Prime Minister Mr. Narendra Modi, DPS Patiala Kindergarten wing organized a Cleanliness Drive in its vast premises.The drive comprised of assorted activities related to cleanliness, no to plastic awareness along with celebrating the "Global Hand Washing Day". Students were given valuable tips on effective ways of washing hands by the school Doctor.The tiny hands also enjoyed dusting the rooms.They also went to the corridors and playground for picking up a few wrappers and dried leaves.The drive was led by the Principal Mr.Santosh Shukla. He appreciated the green initiative of the junior most students and mnotivate them to continue spreading the awareness.
It was super-exciting for the students of DPS Patiala to come back to school on 15th July after a long relaxing summer break. And imagine their joy on being told that they were being taken for a box office hit soon. Students of classes V to XII were taken to the inspirational block-buster "Super 30" on the 18th of July. The show was a hit with each teacher and student.
It was the animated movie "Lion King" that had the junior children of classes I to IV feel excited and thrilled as they pooled into the school buses with their peers. There was not a moment of dullness throughout the screening of this much awaited movie !
SUMMER CAMP 2019-20
